Technology is rapidly taking over the world and with each passing day, we are moving closer to a time when Artificial Intelligence (AI) will become the order of the day.
Experts are asking how prepared we are for the future of AI. And one of such experts is Elon Musk.
Speaking of experts in terms of tech, no one is bigger than Musk whose ventures includes electric car maker Tesla and space firm SpaceX.
Mr Musk, who recently became the richest person in the world through technology, said in an interview with The New York Times that current trends suggest AI could overtake humans in four years time.
The billionaire engineer, who also helped found the artificial intelligence research lab OpenAI in 2015, has consistently warned of the existential threat posed by advanced AI in recent years. Despite this, he said he still feels that the issue is not properly understood.
“My assessment about why AI is overlooked by very smart people is that very smart people do not think a computer can ever be as smart as they are. And this is hubris and obviously false,” he said.
“We’re headed toward a situation where AI is vastly smarter than humans and I think that time frame is less than five years from now. But that doesn’t mean that everything goes to hell in five years. It just means that things get unstable or weird.”
Elon Musk spoke of Universal Basic Income as the solution to man’s irrelevance in a future of AI. Musk told CNBC that “There is a pretty good chance we end up with Universal Basic Income or something like that, due to automation.”
The billionaire added:” Yeah I am not sure what else one would do. I think that is what will happen.
Furthermore, Elon stated that “we should explore ideas like Universal Basic Income to give everyone a cushion to try new things because robots and automation would render many jobless.”
Universal basic income (UBI) is a guaranteed, no-strings-attached, unconditional recurring payment to every member of society, aimed at meeting basic needs.
It approaches the problem of people not having enough to live on by giving everyone a stipend equal to the cost of living.
Like Elon Musk, Amos Sewanu Omotade-Sparks popularly known as Daddy Inks is advocating proffering what he feels is the World’s Best UBI program born out of Human Asset Tokenisation.
Apart from advocating for the same thing, it is also interesting to note that Omotade-Sparks who is the founder and chief executive officer of the world’s first charitable Trust DAO, Inksnation is from Africa like Musk. While the former was born and raised in Nigeria, Musk was born to a South African father and Canadian mother and raised in Pretoria, South Africa.
According to the Nigerian, Artificial Intelligence is going to take away lots of jobs, increasing unemployment in the world. This will affect African Nations the most, thereby skyrocketing the level of extreme poverty in the world. COVID 19 is also making this happen faster than expected.
In a similar position to Elon Musk, Omotade-Sparks is saying that “The best way to end poverty in the world is to provide a form of Universal Basic Income to the masses and we won’t need to compete with Artificial Intelligence for jobs, rather AI will become national and global maids/servants to humanity.”

When asked about what he thinks about Elon Musk he said “Well I love Elon Musk a lot because we share some ideas as it relates to AI, UBI and the fact that humans should live a life of abundance in an autonomously driven society where AI becomes National/Universal Maids and Servants, I am sure that I will meet Elon Musk soon because I have what he craves for”
