Starting over to pursue a new direction in your career or life is never without turmoil and obstacles. Pursuing new paths in both your life and career simultaneously can be seemingly impossible. For entrepreneur Tony Chang, founder of Super Jewelry Co, making the tough decision to turn his life in a brand-new direction was the most challenging thing he has ever done, but the struggles he went through paid him back tenfold. Now a rising force in the jewelry industry, Chang’s story serves as an inspiration to entrepreneurs’ future generations.
While pursuing his graduate degree, Tony Chang found himself a copy of Robert Kiyosaki’s finance book, Rich Dad Poor Dad. Making the realization that he longed for financial freedom, Chang dropped out of university to pursue something more. First, he decided he needed to work on himself, for himself. Chang recalled, “I went through mental breakdowns because I was so used to being an employee, but, when I got into business for myself, I literally had to put my old-self and mentality to death.” Stepping forward as a new man, the hopeful entrepreneur found a new devotion to the jewelry industry while working for Ablaze International.
After six years working for Ablaze, Tony Chang decided in 2018 to found Super Jewelry Co and begin selling custom pieces of 10K and 14K gold jewelry. He does not take all the credit himself, though, as Chang is quick to offer recognition to those who have helped him along the way, especially his wife. “Hands down, she’s been there for me and believed in me long before I believed in myself to be the best I could be.” A long journey full of life-changing experiences has led Tony Chang into the life of financial freedom he had longed for since dropping out of college.
