Have you heard that most companies prefer to hire Board Certified Medical Liaisons?
Yes, that is correct. I had a conversation with some Medical Liaison Managers, and 90% of them told me that having BCMAS will give a candidate a higher chance in an interview.
Why?
Having BCMAS is proof that the applicant is willing to continually grow, learn and develop professionally as a Medical Science Liaison.
And if you are a Medical Science Liaison or want to be one, here are a few tips that I can give you in getting a board certification.
Only Take Courses ThatThe Regulators recognizes
Before taking any MSL Board Certification Program, you must evaluate them before investing and continuing with the course. Otherwise, it would be a total waste of time and money.
I’m telling you this because I’ve seen some companies that offer board certification, which appears to be scammy on my end. After all, they are not accredited by FDA or other board certification regulators.
Some of these companies are from Science to Pharma and The MSL Society. If there’s one legit board certification company that I can suggest, it is the Accreditation Council of Medical Affairs (ACMA).
Among them, ACMA is the only one that offers BCMAS or Board Certified Medical Affairs Specialist programs.
The Board Certified Medical Affairs Specialist (BCMAS) program is the official MSL certification.
It is a fact that you shouldn’t neglect. To be a certified MSL, you need to go through the Board Certified Medical Affairs Specialist program or BCMAS. It is the only legit official MSL certification program you can take if you aim to be a certified MSL. In addition, it is the official and the first legit MSL Board Certification globally.
Promoting Your MSL Board Certification
After days of taking the program and investing your time and money in getting certified, don’t you think it is an excellent time to let people know about it? Especially the Medical Organizations where you want to apply.
How can you do it?
It’s pretty easy. All you need to do is update your LinkedIn profile and upload all necessary information about your certification or inform the company where you are already working on posting it on their employee portal.
Another thing that you can do is add the MSL certification badge to your Social Media profiles!

Being an MSL is serious work, so is getting board certified. If you are not yet certified, I suggest you take the BCMAS program already! It is becoming a trend in the industry, so if you want to step up with your career, you need to be a board-certified MSL.
