“Don’t follow a trend, create one and be a trendsetter”, these are the golden words Karis Dowe lives his life by. A highly celebrated fashion designer from New York is gradually changing the dynamics of luxury fashion. It was in the early 2000s when many people thought that luxury fashion will not be able to sustain in the fashion market. While normcore fashion was a thing back then, nobody thought that luxury fashion would become be acceptable. When Karis made his entry into the luxury fashion industry, whatever he touched became gold and many fashion brands got benefitted by his work.
It was in 2012, Dowe entered the luxury fashion scene. He worked as a brand director at the luxury staple Helmut Lang. The designer has designed outfits for many other luxury brands like Hugo Boss, Miu Miu, Saint Laurent, Off-White among others. “Luxury fashion products cater to a particular target audience. Not everyone will be accustomed to luxury fashion outfits. That is the reason why there are minimum luxury clothing outfits in the market”, quoted the designer. The exemplary designs created by Karis including graphics, colour palettes, original fonts and garment silhouettes have influenced many other luxury brands.
Virgil Abloh, Demna Gvasalia, Heron Preston and Marcelo Burlon are some of the celebrated names from the luxury fashion scene who are in awe of Karis’ work. Dowe is currently working for another luxury fashion label named Wildphase. It is touted to be the next big thing in the industry. With Karis as the designer, one thing is sure that the quality of the products will be par excellence. Wildphase will also set a bar as far as sustainability and creativity are concerned.
In an extraordinary career of almost a decade, Karis Dowe has got his hands to design for the global luxury brands. With Wildphase, he hopes to bring luxury fashion at par with all the latest technological innovations.
