With his pristine line work and modern gothic aesthetic, DJ Pearson has successfully achieved a take on sacred geometric tattooing that is uniquely his own.
From the urban sprawl of Chicago, Illinois, DJ tattoos out of Mayday Tattoo among veteran names such as Pony Lawson and Gary Parisi. DJ is a Chicago native, although his journey in tattooing has taken him from living in the tropical paradise of Daytona Beach, Florida, to the mile high city of Denver, Colorado. DJ is now 30 years old, having started his professional career in tattooing at age 22. Although his hands have been on a tattoo machine since as young as 14 years old, tattooing friends in his mom’s house for whatever money or goods they could get their hands on.
DJ landed himself an apprenticeship in Denver, living in his car the entire time he hustled to move up the ladder in the industry he so desperately is passionate about. Learning and taking inspiration from names such as Aries Rhysing and Jayce Wallingford, From there, he took a second apprenticeship in Florida under Bobby Ellis at Victory Tattoo, learning the ropes in American traditional.
DJ now specializes in a unique and sinister approach to blackwork tattooing. Infusing the beautiful aesthetics of Middle Eastern cultural inspired geometric work, with a witch-like, gothic inspired twist. Whatever it is he has his hands in, one thing is for sure; there will be black, and lots of it. You can find his portfolio under the name @blvckened_blood on Instagram.
