Life could all seem very sweet on one side when it gives people joy, family and a purpose in life, and on the other hand, it can all turn very sour when it tries to drive a person away from all such positive things. It purely depends on what choice an individual makes throughout the lifetime, that decides what a person is and how his life can be in the future. The same case is with life’s opportunities as well and learning what abilities and skills one has. However, the greatest minds are the ones who realize their true calling and use the same talent in the betterment of others, with the aim to also provide hope to many other youngsters in society. Topping the list of such talented people is a musical artist named Kenneth Watkins Jr, aka CGRN KennyMan from Atlanta, Georgia.
He completed his studies from the Tony elementary and Columbia high school and had always considered him an East Side Stand Up Dude; however, little did he know at that point in life, that it could even turn cruel for him. If America is known for the great music culture it has given birth to; it is also known for the many negative communities and influences it has bred, which have entrapped many naive youngsters and bogged them down with the adversities of life. KennyMan too was influenced by this and had to be in and out of the juvenile center, leading him towards a 12-year sentence.
But, rather than losing hope amidst all these hurdles in life, being in the center; he decided to positively turn his life through the power called music and eventually change the lives of many others as well in the center for the better. All the fellow prison mates of his also found their solace and peace in music. Hence, KennyMan being so many years into prison came up with his group named 36 Shit and then altered it into what is today famous as “Chain Gang Rich Nation”. When in 2016, KennyMan was finally out to live a life of freedom, he got in touch with Ralofamgoon and this association led him towards a path which has never made him look back. The more he dived deep into the vast ocean of music, the more he found himself free from all the negativities of life and this gave him the motivation to transform his negative history into a positive future for himself, that could do good to others as well through music.
His group Chain Gang Rich Nation is striving each passing day to create songs and music that can build more hope in many other youngsters, the ones who are still incarcerated or the ones who have been in prison without getting any parole or the ones who have been behind bars since their adolescence.
With the aim to be the voice of many who don’t have their own right now, CGRN KennyMan has become their mascot and Chain Gang hope in their tough times; giving them the courage and the positivity they need in life.
