If there’s one thing that never goes out of style, it’s diamonds. And we all know that big named celebrities are always the ones carrying the most expensive pieces of jewelry in the world. But you’re probably wondering who makes these pieces, where they can be found, and how much they’re really worth. Well, we’ve got someone with the answers.
We’d like to introduce you to Beny Nisanov; AKA Benny Da Jeweler. Nisanov is a jewelry shop owner from New York City that’s been working in the business for over eight years. He’s learned everything from his father, who worked in the jewelry industry for over 20 years prior to retiring. Benny’s shop is located in the Diamond District of NYC along 47th Street, where consumers can find anything from engagement rings to stone-encrusted tennis chains. His specialty as of late, however, has been creating fully customized pieces for A-list celebrities and athletes. He’s done business with names such as Mary J. Blige, Lil Tjay, Tim Hardaway Jr., and even the Combs family.
The custom pieces go through an intricate manufacturing process as they start out from a sketch, are carved into a wooden mold, and then are finally stoned and structured by hand into the final piece. All pieces are made in-house and hand-placed by Benny himself. They can range anywhere from $10,000-100,000+, but celeb pieces usually exceed the higher end of that price tag. Nisanov tells us the most expensive piece he’s ever sold was priced over a quarter of a million dollars, but the client remains undisclosed for security reasons.
The jeweler’s established clientele has grown mostly through word-of-mouth. While A-list celebrities tend to resort to the more well-known high jewelry houses for the exclusivity of their pieces, Benny’s small business has sky-rocketed due to his ability to custom create whatever the client wants in terms of design, while offering a wide range of quality and price. His shop is known to provide exceptional quality at very reasonable pricing compared to the higher-end houses.
The jeweler tells us that his bigger clients, like Mary J. Blige, usually spend in the six-figure range. His last transaction with the American singer and songwriter consisted of over $250,000. Lil Tjay, another American rapper and songwriter, recently spent $100k on a single custom pendant that reads “CEO Trench Kid”. And one of the jeweler’s most loyal (and famous) customers to date happens to be Diddy, who has also proceeded to add members of his family to Benny’s exclusive list of clientele.
While requests for custom pieces keep pouring in, the New York jeweler says he’s very proud of how far he’s come from his shop’s opening. He’s even looking to potentially expand his business further out into the States, though an exact location remains TBD. Fortunately, there’s nowhere else to go but up from here, and we can’t wait to see what crazy (expensive) pieces Benny Da Jeweler makes next.
