Andrew Anastasiou was named the winner of this year’s UK Future 100 Award. The 31-year-old entrepreneur came 1st out of an estimated 30,000 competitors, and it is assumed that the award was given to Andrew due to his commitment to bringing digital banking services to some 500 million people who have been “forgotten” by the global economy.
The UK Future 100 Awards have been in operation since 2010, and 2020 is the last year that will see the award take place. It is specifically for 25-35-year-olds who have shown enterprise and business skills and are talented in taking a start-up company and growing it to higher than normal levels in an above-average time.
The entrepreneur is also the winner of the 2020 European Start-up Entrepreneur and the 2020 European Scale-up Entrepreneur awards. These prestigious prizes were awarded to him for his efforts in bringing digital banking to non-EU businesses looking for simpler ways to use European banking services. In 2018 Andrew Anastasiou brought his first mainstream online banking service to the market which quickly saw Asian and Latin American business scramble to open corporate accounts with the company. One of North America’s largest men’s magazines has even provided the London born entrepreneur a front page feature due to his accomplishments in his field.
A further banking and payment service is also in progress with a launch date set for Q2 2021. The specifics of this product are not completely known at this present time but sources state that the cash-to-voucher system will provide individuals with no access to digital or online banking services the capability to make online payments for utility bills and governmental services. The main regional focus for this product seems to be Kenya and other African nations; however, there are rumors that the product will also be launched in South America.
Andrew Anastasiou is also nominated for the 2021 EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards which is due to be awarded in April 2021. There are currently over 100,000 entries for this prize with sources claiming Andrew Anastasiou is in the final 50.
