Because of COVID-19 and the consequent lockdowns and regulations that ensued, 2020 has been a whirlwind for many businesses. In a matter of months, reports showed that 140,104 were marked as closed online. Although some have reopened when allowed, more than ninety-seven thousand have closed their doors permanently due to the pandemic. Overall, it has not been an easy year financially.
While a lot of industries got affected, such as restaurants, others have received an increase in demand for their services.
Tom Davis, also known as “America’s Canine Educator”, has seen an influx in customers reaching out for his help. As they spend more time at home, dog owners realize that their pets have special needs that they themselves might not be equipped to deal with. That is why dog training companies are going crazy with the multiple inquiries for their work.
Davis also learned to leverage his knowledge and experience into a fast growing YouTube channel called Upstate Canine Academy and No Bad Dogs, an award winning podcast that topped the charts. All of these side businesses allowed him to keep his work running and gain a bigger community of support than previously.
The dedication that he has put into his passion, which, from a very young age, was to help dogs, is what kept him going during these hard times. His fiancé Taylor helps him with running the operation, from correlating everything to his personal assistant all the way down to their staff at his main command center, the Upstate Canine Academy. When he can, he travels the country and works with clients every single day to help educate dog owners.
People come to him because what he does differentiates himself to other trainers. Able to look at canine training as an art form, as something that takes time, patience and understanding, he gives the ability to his clients to see things from their pet’s perspective. With the pandemic and the changes that it brought and will bring in the foreseeable future, it’s important to be able to comprehend what your animal goes through. Because, as we are affected, so are they. Therefore it is crucial to be able to take advice from a professional that is deemed trustworthy and is knowledgeable.
Tom dedicates his entire life and schedule to enable dog owners to have the best relationship they can. He flies out whenever he can, as busy as his schedule gets, to make sure that his clients get the proper advice when it comes to training their pet. His passion for helping animals is what motivates him every day and keeps him focused on growing his multiple businesses.
Pandemic or not, he was perfectly fitted for this line of work.
“I was chatting with my dad one afternoon on the phone, I just knew this was it. This is what I am supposed to be doing in life, it all lined up.”
And we would not want him doing anything else!
