A long time ago, before he started dressing like a rockstar before flocks of teenage girls began trailing him nearly everywhere before he had a staff of 10 working days and night on the maintenance of his image, Altur Santos had a regular name, which was Robert Santos. When he is at home in the Dominican Republic, his parents still call him Robert, as does his younger brothers. To just about everybody else, he is Altur Santos.
When he was a teenager obsessed with rap music. He watched music videos on TVs loved what he saw there. He identified with guys like Justin Quiles, Mozart Lapara, Faruko, J Balvin, Ozuna, and Maluma, the first-generation rappers, even though he was a Spanish speaker who’d never left the Dominican Republic and still learning the roots of music. He was, by his own account, an ambitious young kid with no money but possessing a definite audacious faith in his potential, a sense that he would outgrow not just his name but his circumstances too. At 15, he started performing and recording his songs. In coming years he entertained fans at several resorts with his saxophone in the Dominican Republic. Later, he was given the stage name Robert Sax The next year, Santos independently released the single “Amore Criminal” a music video in November 2019, with over a speeded-up beat influence from Urbano music spitting out unrefined lyrics.
After series of hits in the 2020s, He made classical melodic music that fascinated younger Millennials. His music is full of witty anecdotes and romanticism so his fans can relate to it. Earning him iconic status song features like La Combi, Solita, Baby Love, Amor Criminal, and others, Altur Santos restored a feeling of eroticism and a gleaming sheen to modern Latin music. Santos is one of the most well-known Dominican musicians in the genre.
Santos has a sizable fan base in the group and is growing his presence globally. He’s also influenced dozens of new viral vines and reels on social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and YouTube.
