In Orlando’s clubbing scene, DJ Xclusive City is turning heads and garnering attention. He’s a guy who used to support DJs and bands set up for their shows, and he’s become a popular party starter in the city today.
Under the influence of his Haitian parents, DJ Xclusive City, whose parents migrated from Haiti to the US and really had to struggle to provide for five kids while working many jobs, grew up. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and, at a young age, fell in love with music. He used to accompany his parents to church, where he started playing the church drums, then picked up the bass guitar later and taught himself how to play it as well. The young boy spent a lot of time sitting by the radio during this period listening to DJs waiting patiently for them to play his favorite songs so that he could record them. He started producing mixtapes for his classmates at about 12 years old, using a CD burner and old hip-hop records he borrowed from his uncle. In carrying supplies, loading-trucks, and wrapping wires, Xclusive City also assisted his uncle’s crew.
The time with his uncles and other musicians instilled passion and love for music in Xclusive City, specifically DJing. The way they were able to manipulate the music was what made him admire these professionals the most. How their songs pumped audiences up with energy, and how beautifully they would make their performances shake up the crowd. He was fascinated by everything about DJing, building up a passion for this career. He was determined to establish a career as a DJ.
DJ Xclusive City, quick-forward to the present, is one of the city’s top DJs. He gained a stage name in the clubbing world and became a star. Shortly after joining 104.5 The Beat (WTKS) and iHeartRadio, with his very own show, not just as a DJ but as a Radio Personality. He is also officially one of the Orlando Magic NBA basketball team’s official DJs. He did not only fulfill his childhood dream, but succeeded in it as well. He appeared on Wild n Out of MTV, NFL 2020 Pro Bowl, NBA Orlando Magic, Jr. NBA, Hello Newmans of Overtime, Diddy’s Revolt TV in LA, Miami Revolt Music Conference and VH1’s Master of the Mix. In addition, he has collaborated with several brands on joint campaigns, including Hennessy, Bose, Curls, Rane, Hpnotiq, Diesel, BeBe, Puma Shoes, Jimmy Jazz, and Pull-in. Most notably, he is the co-founder of an entertainment company, Xclusive Media Group.
On a Success Roller-Coaster…
Spending time growing up with his best friends encouraged him to ask for turntables from his parents as a Christmas present. His parents gifted him one turntable and a mixer when he was 15 years old, so he had to save his summer money to finally get the other turntable to complete the package, which marked the beginning of his journey to be a top DJ in Orlando.
He began playing in small clubs and bars and eventually ended up playing a gig at The Strand, a major club in town. At the time, DJ Xclusive City was underage and he was performing with security assigned to him. For the aspiring DJ, it was a massive chance, and he did not stop there.
The Haitian-American boy began performing annually at the Haitian Flag Day Festival, Dominican Day parades, and local city festivals. At the West Indian-American Day Carnivals, the Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival, and the Calle Ocho Music Festival in Miami, he was then invited to perform as well.
After joining an entertainment company, OG Entertainment, DJ Xclusive City partnered with a few of his high school mates. With DJ Xclusive City as the rapper L. Dotti, HUS. and Rob Re they formed a group called Da League. They were able to put out a few solid ventures, go on tour and play for all sorts of events.
