MrWalkinLick, a local rapper has decided to donate 3,000 coats to needy Birmingham people affected due to Covid-19. He is partnering with a Birmingham city councilor for this work. Earlier this month, the rapper announced to donate $50 thousand to needy people, organizations, and communities.
Birmingham City Councilor, John R. Hillard, has appreciated the initiative of the young rapper who has inspired the youth to do something valuable for needy communities. While honoring the rapper’s decision to support Birmingham’s District 9 communities, Hillard has said that it is such a kind act to provide an essential resource to affected residents in Birmingham during difficult times.
The District 9 city councilor has lauded MrWalkinLick‘s efforts and he calls it a benchmark step to set an example of kindness amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The time and the date for the “Winter Warm Wishes Coat Giveaway” have already been decided.
It is scheduled to take place on Dec. 28 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m at One Pratt Park, 601 Dugan Ave, Birmingham, AL 35214. It has been announced that coats will be distributed among children and adults. And it is necessary for families to pre-register for attending this giveaway. Necessary instructions have been given to attendees to follow the CDC guidelines such as social distancing and face coverings.
Councilor Hilliard who is spearheading this giveaway has also led a turkey giveaway, a fresh food giveaway, and a mask giveaway in 2020. Being a lifelong resident of Pratt City, he has served in the Alabama State Legislature for a decade.
Moreover, he has been a representative on the State Democratic Executive Committee for more than 20 years. Hillard leads the city’s Economic Development Committees and he considers public safety, education, and economic development as his top priorities.
