Complacency is the biggest downfall of any entrepreneur, regardless of their stature. Whenever someone makes it big and believes that they have nothing left to learn, failure is close behind. Mario Selva is the ultimate example of a business owner who has made millions from scratch because he never stops learning and growing.
“When I was out of college, I used to read all the time. I didn’t do much else but just study and take in as much knowledge as I could, that I would then go and apply to my business,” says Selva. “It’s important to have mentors, too, so that you can see that someone has managed to achieve what you want and that it’s possible for you, too,” he adds.
Mario follows a few gurus out there who he finds extremely helpful in terms of helping him maintain an unwavering mindset. “Mindset is the most important aspect of every business. If you’re building your own company, you spend a lot of time alone, so you need to keep your motivation up,” says Selva.
He currently employs a team of two who are helping him stay on track. “It’s crucial to hire the right people who would want to learn and grow with you,” recommends Mario. He also emphasizes the importance of accepting problems as they come and working on resolving them. “Inevitably, at one point or another, you’ll run into issues, and that’s okay; you should be prepared for that,” he says.
Mario Selva aspires to be a mentor and a teacher to others who want to follow in his footsteps. He wants to make his training available to as many people as possible. “I want my legacy to be about helping people,” he says, adding, “It’s not just about the money. I want to be remembered as a teacher and a mentor: as someone who helps others.”
Selva is big on family. He admits that his biggest achievement to date is not making millions, but rather helping his loved ones.
When it comes to business, he likes to play fair. “I don’t go making the same product just to compete with other companies. I prefer to sell something that is as unique as possible so I’m not involved in these games of always trying to outdo another business,” he admits.
Mario is excited about the future. He plans on continuing to scale and grow his business via marketing. The entrepreneur has a strong vision for the future, which includes personal development, training others, and following what lights him up. He is working on branding new products and taking them to the worldwide market. There is no ceiling for what Mario Selva can achieve.
He is someone who sees every failure as a lesson and is poised to make it big. “I never want to be dependent on another business like I was on Amazon back in the beginning,” says Selva. “You should always try to build your own company so that nobody can take it away from you.”
