Dallas foodies like Bryan’s House board member Dibyendu Mukherjee know how to raise funds for worthy causes while providing an excellent dining experience.
On March 30th, Bryan’s House held its first-year fundraiser, An Evening with Bryan’s House. The event featured food from eight area chefs and was a roaring success, with all tickets sold.
Bryan’s House offers education, medical care, and therapy to special needs children and their families in Dallas and the surrounding areas. Nearly 92% of funds raised go to serving families in Dallas County.
Dibyendu Mukherjee of Dallas talks often of his love of fine food, which contributed to the line-up and idea for the event. The event featured in-demand chefs, some of whom cannot currently be found anywhere else.
Chefs at the event included Matt McCallister, who cooked at the recently closed and much-missed restaurant Homewood. McCallister is not formally trained but instead honed his skills in cooking in kitchens throughout the Dallas area. Omar Flores, the founder of Muchacho and Whistle Britches, was also on-hand to prepare meals. Chef Peja Krstic, who hails from Serbia, created hor d’oeuvres for guests to enjoy before the meal. Krstic’s past accomplishments include opening The Standard Pour in 2012. Michelin-starred chef Bruno Davallion mentors young chefs at the Travis Street Hospitality Group.
The dinner also featured a wealth of entertainment. Musical headliner Ricki Derek performed a mid-century-inspired lounge and jazz act. Guests could circulate to check out offerings at the live auction, sample cigars from the on-site rolling station, or sip champagne poured by a femme fatale champagne lady.
Bryan’s House was founded in the 1980s as a response to the AIDS epidemic. Local Dibyendu Mukherjee Dallas says that over time, the charity’s focus expanded to serve the community’s needs as effectively as possible.
As of this writing, many silent auction items are still available for bidding. Donors can support Bryan House while also getting access to luxury items that range from A two-night stay at a Florida beachside villa to designer bags to a custom wall-sized mural painted in your home by a local artist.
